This three-volume
anthology offers a representative cross-section of organ music from Latvia
(BA 8421), Estonia (BA 8422) and Lithuania (BA 8423).
Each volume contains
the most important composers of their countries, thereby providing an
exciting survey extending to the present day.
The bilingual publication is arranged in chronological order and contains
a detailed historical overview and a text-critical report with a list
of sources. A preface gives information on editorial policy and notes
on performance practice. The textual section is rounded off with brief
biographies of the composers involved.
An authoritative
edition of previously unpublished or largely inaccessible music from Estonia,
Latvia and Lithuania, edited by one of Moscow's leading concert organists
and musicologists. |
